  • The Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 Smartphone is an impressive unit. Small, light and comfortable to hold with crisp vibrant display. It comes with a 2.0 megapixel 2x digital zoom camera and video capability, 29 hours of music (MP3) playback, adequate 256 megabytes of internal memory, dedicated media keys, smooth track-pad navigation, multi-media capabilities (colour screen, MMS, MP3, polyphonic) and Blackberry Messenger. The Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 is equipped with a microSD card allowing up to to 32 gigabytes of additional storage capacity.

From a geek perspective, perhaps its key feature is that it is the only unit within the 3-model Curve series to be equipped with new 3G UMTS technology. Universal mobile telecommunications system technology is one of several 3G mobile technologies, but Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 has also been selected/tapped to be further developed globally and eventually carried forward as a 4G technology.

UMTS represents a step-up on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) 2G technology, it is of course closely related to that 2G mobile (GSM/EDGE) technology and builds on its concepts. The Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 also supports GSM, seamlessly allowing dual-mode operation. The 8900 and 9330 are GSM units and are not UMTS enabled.

The Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 comes with a big and bright 320x240 pixel color display, same as the Curve 9330 but smaller than the Curve 8900. It has a full QWERTY keyboard that allows easy inputting. It comes with built-in GPS and the BlackBerry proprietary Maps app, users can feel confident they are staying the course. Getting lost will be difficult with this little baby.

Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 talk time is capacious at 4.5 hours GSM and 5.5 hours UMTS. Stand-by time is a massive 19.0 days UMTS mode and 14.5 days GSM mode, this being significantly longer than both the 8900 and especially the 9330 units. UMTS is one of several 3G mobile technology that will also being further developed so that it can be carried forward as a 4G technology.

Size is compact and its ergonomic feel makes it comfortable to hold. Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 dimensions are 4.29 x 2.36 x 0.55 inches (109 x 60 x 13.9 mm), same as the 9330 and 8900. Weight is a light 3.7 ounces (104 grams) same as the 9330 and slightly less than the 8900. The Unit comes in a range of bright, attractive colourful casing that make a statement and help to define your personality.

Connectivity to the communications carrier network is via WiFi, of course. Other connectivity options provided by the unit include Bluetooth and USB to link to a notebook or desktop computer. The unit is powered by a removable, long lasting and lightweight lithium ion battery providing 1,150 milliampere hours (Li-Ion 1150 mAh) meaning the battery means it will release 1,150 milliamps of current at its set voltage for one hour before it is discharged.

In conclusion, the Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 is a quality unit providing super-performance and ultra-stylish look and feel we have all come to expect from Blackberry. The unit equips users to capture all the benefits that comes with the next phase in mobile phone technology. Users can expect a range of performance improvements including more stable network connectivity, more talk and standby-by times, faster Internet access and data transfer rates, and much more.

Running With The Best: Using The New BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300

23
Oct/10
  • Research In Motion, RIM, is the manufacturer of the BlackBerry brand phones, and they have recently announced the release of a phone that will trump previously popular models. The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 smart-phone is the newest brainchild of RIM, and it will cast the Curve 8330 and 8530, models which are still very with most cellular carriers, into the shadows of obsolescence.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 new model of the Curve series boasts a larger amount of both RAM to support more running applications, as well as more onboard memory so you can store more contacts, data, and applications. Of course, the amount of music, photos and videos that you can store on the phone depends solely on the size of the memory card BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 contains, and in previous models the maximum capacity of the MicroSD cards for the Curve was 16GB. With the newer model however, the firmware and hardware have been updated to accommodate extended memory cards of up to 32GB, which will hold an average of 8,000 songs.

While older models of the curve were both famous and notorious for their trackball cursor movement designs, the new BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 incorporates a track pad system that functions very much like the units that move the mouse around on current laptops. Replacement of the trackball is a thing of the past, and the track pad is also much more responsive and accurate.

As always there is a camera included in the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300, and while the resolution has not moved up a great deal from previous models, still remaining at 2 megapixels, the photo-optic light sensor has been updated to capture higher quality pictures in lower light environments. There of course is an on board video camera that allows you to capture short clips to email to friends, or longer videos if you have enough expanded memory to store them. Bluetooth is included as an integral part of the operating system, making it incredibly easy for you to send files to another phone, another computer, or even print pictures at a photo processing kiosk that has a Bluetooth receiver.

Research In Motion of course has released another very good BlackBerry product, the only hang up for most people is the price if you are not able to get new customer pricing or resign your contract for an eligible upgrade. The manufacturer suggested retail price of the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 is a whopping 500.00 USD, however there are a great many different retailers and cellular service providers that will be willing to offer you instant and mail in rebates if you are willing to sign a longer contract or simply start a new plan.

If you are considering switching to the new BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300, it is in your best interest to see what offers your local cellular service providers have, and checking with a corporate branch is the safest bet. One can sign-up for a blackberry curve 3g 9300 contract deals offering free gifts like Nintendo WII, Sony PSP or Play Station, and even Xbox 360. If these free gifts don't seem interesting to certain people than there are service providers offering unlimited texts with contracts.
